Echinodermata

Echinodermata – Il termine echinoderma deriva dal greco ἐχῖνος (echînos), porcospino, e δέρμα (dérma), pelle. Gli Echinodermi sono un phylum di deuterostomi marini. L'origine del phylum risale al Cambriano inferiore e le specie viventi sono circa 6.000. Questo phylum si compone di 5 principali tipi di animali: stelle marine, ricci di mare, cetrioli di mare, stelle fragili e crinoidi.

Echinodermata – The word echinoderm is made up from Greek ἐχῖνος (echînos), hedgehog, sea-urchin, and δέρμα (dérma), skin. Echinoderms (Phylum Echinodermata) are a phylum of marine animals. The adults are recognizable by their (usually five-point) radial symmetry, and include such well-known animals as starfish, sea urchins, sand dollars, and sea cucumbers. Echinoderms are found at every ocean depth, from the intertidal zone to the abyssal zone.

Gorgonocephalus
Γοργών, Medusa; κεφαλή, caput – Ophiuridea
– In Greek mythology, a Gorgon (plural: Gorgons) is a female creature. The name derives from the ancient Greek word gorgós, which means "dreadful." While descriptions of Gorgons vary across Greek literature and occur in the earliest examples of Greek literature, the term commonly refers to any of three sisters who had hair of living, venomous snakes, and a horrifying visage that turned those who beheld her to stone. Traditionally, while two of the Gorgons were immortal, Stheno and Euryale, their sister Medusa was not, and she was slain by the mythical demigod and hero Perseus. – kephalë = testa – head
