Dear
  Mr Plant,
Excavations
at Ban Chiang in N.E. Thailand resulted in the recovery of chicken bone as
part of the burial offerings. In some cases complete skeletons of the bird
were placed on the human chest area. There were also some chicken remains in
  the middens.
I
enclose a reprint covering the economy and chronology in question. I think the
Gallus in question is a domesticated S.E. Asian jungle fowl, but have not
studied the bones in the detail they deserve.
Miss
Cave has gone to Canada and I am unsure of her address.
Yours
  sincerely,
Charles
