Dr

Via del Castagnone 30,
15048 Valenza Al. Italy.
Dear
Dr Corti,
In
his letter to the Library of 17th May, which Mr Lees has passed to me, William
Plant asks us to reply to you.
I
enclose a copy of the relevant section from the translation of Carl Friederich
Behrens' narrative of Jacob Roggeveen's visit to Easter Island which appears
as Appendix I of The Voyage of Captain
Don Felipe Gonzales...to Easter Island in 1770-1..., transcribed,
translated and edited by Bolton Glanvill Corney (Cambridge: Hakluyt Society,
1908). Unfortunately this Library does not have a copy of the German original,
Der wohlversuchte Süd-Länder...,
von Carl Friederich Behrens (Leipzig: Monath, 1739), but it is held by the
British Library, Great Russell Street, London, WC1B 3DG, to which you may care
to write.
Yours
sincerely,
Colin
T. Clarkson,
Head of the Reference Department.
