Diptera – Il nome fa riferimento al numero di ali di cui sono forniti questi insetti, e deriva dal greco antico δίς, dís, due volte e πτερόν, pterón, ala. I Ditteri (Diptera, Linnaeus, 1758) costituiscono un ordine di insetti terrestri o idrofili, frequentemente acquaioli o acquatici negli stadi preimmaginali.
